Journaling Assignment #53: Self- Acceptance

I've been thinking about myself. Not in a selfish way, but in a way to where I know myself. It's those things that I  do or don't do or say; and how I react to them. Through the years I have lighten up on myself. I have been trying to make wise choices.

I have to learn to accept some things about self. Thank God that I can change.... I know that I can't change myself. I have to learn to like myself. In fact I love myself. Beside, I'm with me all the time. I need to have a good relationship with myself.

Through the years, I have come to see myself differently. I know that I'm not perfect. I have and will continue to make mistakes or make poor choices.... I believe that I'm progressing as the years passed by.

I use to worry a lot about things I make mistakes about. I didn't know how to handle those things I thought were wrong. I had to deal with things. Through time I cooled off.
I do keep going when I feel I've miss the mark.  I have to forgive and forgive myself when things don't go the way that I thought they should. That's call being mature.

What I find about myself that's unacceptable? When I know what I should do something or shouldn't do it. I need to be more in tune with what I know to be true. I'm thankful that God is in my life.

Without the help of Jesus, I think I would be worst off than I'm. I find confidence about myself when I allow God into what I'm doing. I believe that's what motivating me to do what is right and is the leading of the inner witness who's within me.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, I can do what God has called me to do.  I know that I will not do all what God has for me. Fear can hold me back. But, I  believe that God loves me in times when I think that He doesn't.

That love is so deep that I can't comprehend it. God's love is so much richer than any human on earth can give. That's unconditional love.

I am learning more and more as I'm on the journey with Jesus. Life has meaning...  That's when when we know, that we know that we know. That's were our faith and hope comes from.

Self -Acceptance Journaling

via Mia You Journaling...

"Living in the state of self-acceptance is a peaceful place to be. I know from much previous experience what it is like to no feel that much of myself was acceptable. I was pretty ok with my smile and I thought I must be fairly intelligent and a pretty good mom.

Today, after many years of work on myself, I pretty much can do know wrong. That does not mean I don't make mistakes or need to accept responsibility for them. It means that when I make them, I don't beat myself up or do other harm to me or anyone else. I accept. I learn. I move on.
Scary topic for many.
Not so for others.

How do you come by self acceptance?
What about yourself do you find unacceptable?
What are you motivated to change?
How might you do it?"

Monitor Your Mood

I have completed the 52 journaling assignments. I guess that's it?  Do we start all over with assignment #1  with Year 2 or Choose a topic when I journal?

Assignment # 1 Monitor Your Mood via YOU Journaling.
"This is the beginning of your All About Life Journaling experience - unless you've been with us more then a year. For those of you who have been, each year your assignments will re-cycle and you can us them as a way to look at your growth over the past year.

This is the week where you begin to take notice of the existing state of your mind, your body, your emotional state. This is where you really begin looking at you.

Each day this week it is your mission to pay attention to your mood, your emotional state, your level of happiness and your general disposition. Your goal is to identify the mood or emotion that is present as you are journaling and capture it with as much description as possible.

Identify the things, events and conversations that trigger your mood. You may choose to journal several times a day, and you may notice that your mood may change many times throughout the day.

Take the time to write how your mood is expressed or displayed in your actions, your body language, and by the response by others.

Here is an example: I am frustrated today. I am agitated and restless. I can't seem to sit still. I feel nervous and people bug me. I am hungry and can't seem to find the ice cream I like - I have to settle for butterscotch when what I really want is double chocolate fudge.

I feel like a mouse running aimlessly on a mouse sized Ferris wheel. People are so impatient - they cut me off while I am driving and show no respect. My friend Maria thinks I need a vacation - maybe I do.

This is the baseline activity of all your journaling and is by far the most significant. Your feelings are an indicator of your thoughts.

If you are not happy with your mood, you can learn to choose different thoughts to create a better mood. You can also learn that learning how to process your emotions properly will lead to a more consistent sense of joy and happiness.

Really take the time to notice how your mood and feelings - the state of you - affects the way you spend your day, the things you do, your reactions to others, or to situations.

What if you were able to actually have tools to make changes and make them permanent? What would that be like?"

Some Of My Thoughts:
So far I'm feeling pretty good.
I'm not as tried as I was yesterday.
I have more energy.
I felt like journaling.

It's cold an rainy outside.
I feel warm on the inside.
I'm having a good day.
Hoping all are too.

May we not live off of our feelings.
If your down and out, may the comfort of God be with you.
Be encourage the God loves you.

Emotional Resilience

"Here is this session's homework assignment #40, "Emotional Resilience." via You Journal
Top performers, both personally and professionally, have a high degree of emotional resilience. What that means is that they bounce back quickly from perceived adversity, and even find a way to leverage their fall.

No matter what comes their way, they don't allow negative events get them down for too long. They understand that the way they choose to think about and process any event truly differentiates between success and failure, joy and disappointment.
This week, pay close attention to the reactions you have to the events taking place in your life.
Journal about your initial reaction - what did you feel and what thoughts ran through your mind? As the week progresses and you are focused on this exercise, train yourself to actively choose more serving ways to perceive the events that you are experiencing.

What was good about the event?
How was it perfect?
How was it even a gift?

Once we start looking for the silver lining in things, they begin to appear more readily and we learn to assign appreciation to all of the events that come our way, even if they may appear to be negative at first glance. Remember the Find the Gift tool you learned in Week 33."

Some Of My Thoughts.Emotions are for a purpose.
Crying is good up to a point.
Laughter is good as medicine.

May we learn what emotions can do to us.

Trading Shyness For CONFIDENCE

I've been thinking of the times when I was shy. Those times when I would hold my head down. Those times when I couldn't look people in the eyes.

I've come a long ways. There are times I can slip back into the mode with people who I don't what to face. I seem to shy away from people and things.

I don't recall what I was think about that brought on the shy feelings. I guess it was a reaction that I had always done over the years. I never thought that I could break the chain on this feeling.

I had to learn to to replace the shy feeling and allow myself to be more comfortable with people. I had to be more relaxed when I had to do things.

I tried not to focus on the things that made me react to the thing that made my shy. I had to build up the confidence to do things. I have to change my mind set .

I know through experience I can do some things. If I don't try I can't experience what I need to experience in life. It took me time to do some things. But there the confidence that comes I tend to accomplish what I set out to do. There are times when I miss the mark.

May we grow out of the things that causes us to be shy. May we build confidence to do the things we fear. May the LORD be our confidence throughout whatever He calls us to do. AMEN!

Trading Fear For PEACE

I've been thinking when the times I had great fear. The fear when I was trembling or had tears in my eyes. That kind of fear.

What I can recall while in this state....my mind can't comprehend what is going on. I'm like frozen. What can I do?

Most of the time when fear comes I'm not thinking about what causes those feelings. The fear comes and takes over...I don't know exactly what I do when the feelings are coming or how I trade up on things..

I think I've learn to replace the fear with other thoughts that allow me to feel relax I try to calm myself down. There are times when I get myself together, I ask myself why am I doing this?

I can see that I'm much better after the fear leaves. I can keep get back to where I'm calm. That's a great feeling.

I've learn the fear is not the end of what it is. I have faith. I put my trust in God. For God is my shield. He is my security. In Him I put my trust.

May we understand that God has not give us the spirit of fear. May we receive the spirits of love and a sound mind. May we face our fears. May we be at peace and at rest with the things that bring us fear. Amen.

Trading Up Sadness For JOY

I've been thinking about some of the times when I'm sad. That's not a good place to be stuck in. There are things that make me sad.

Sadness isn't a good feeling to have. But it's apart of our human nature. We don't have to be sad. However the times comes when we are sad.

What I have notice when I'm sad, I'm down and out. I feel terrible. I can think the worst of things when I'm down. I can get tripped up over things.

I can't recall what I was thinking that produced some of my feelings. It takes just one thought to sparks something. One thought after another thought can build up negative outcome.  Than there comes a point where I have to get out of that train of thoughts. A breakthrough comes.

I try to replace those thoughts with positive things that allow me to feel better. I tend to focus on where I'm at. I try to see the good of things.

I notice most of the times when I'm down, I'm by myself. I tend to talk to God during this state of sadness. I see good in this. While I'm communing with God, I come out of what brought on the sadness.

When I see that I'm feeling much better I keep that mind set on the good of what I can get from where I was. There is come go in sadness.

In all...the cycle of sadness will come and go throughout life. When this feeling comes we have to learn how to deal with it. In the long run there are things that we experience when we go through feelings in our lives.

May we learn that sadness is apart of life. May we learn to get out feeling sadness when it comes. May we continue to see the good of feelings in our lives. May we not live in our feeling in life. May we see the value of trading up sadness for JOY. AMEN!

Trading Sickness For WELL BEING

I've been thinking about the many times that I've been through sickness. Being sick is not fun at all. I know that sickness will come in life.

I've notice in the last years I'm having more allergy issues. I hate that. I've been to the doctors more too. I'm on medicine for that.

It taking a while for the allergy issues to come. It comes at any season of the year. I try to bit the system. I see that it's not working out as I've planned.

Allergies isn't the only sickness that I have. But I do the best that I can. I replace the on going sicknesses that are upon me with other things to do. I focus on things that I like to do

I seem to keep a positive outlook on things. I have to have my checkups and following with the doctors.

Trade Up: Feelings

Assignment # 21 Trade Up

Here's what the assignment is about for this session.

Paying attention to how you feel is most important because your feelings are a barometer for the types of thoughts that are dominating your mind. Your thoughts produce your feelings.

Do you want to feel differently?
If yes, then you need to change your thoughts. You need to trade up.

This week, pay attention to how you're feeling while you're journaling, or think about a series of feelings you've had like: anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, happiness, joy, etc. within the last 24 hours.

What are you (or were you) thinking that produced those feelings? If those thoughts and subsequent feelings are negative, trade up.

Replace them with thoughts that allow you to feel slightly better, focus on them, and journal your new feelings based on your new, positive, empowering thoughts.

Once you are at a slightly better place, keep trading up and keep climbing the ladder of better feeling thoughts one rung at a time.

Some Of My Thoughts:
I got this assignment later than I had expected. I didn't pay too much attention to my feelings today.  I'll try to at least note something about my feelings during this week.

May we learn to know what's best of us when we are going through things in life. May we learn to see the better side of things. May the LORD comfort us as we live out our days. Amen.

Thanks for reading.
