Personality Traits

Be Thankful for God Given Personality Traits

Our God- given personality traits can be seen in our  actions, words, and deeds. We should be grateful for what God has planted in us. I’m thankful for the journey of transformation that God has set before me. LORD, help me Jesus!

Question for Week 12: What are you favorite personality traits?
As for me…

I’m thankful that God has blessed me with traits that bring glory to His Name. I’ve been thinking about some my gifts in my personality. What do I see and appreciate about them?

Here’s a few on my list of being….
CARING and RESPECTFUL
I’m aware that being caring brings out,  being respectful toward others. The love of God is in all of us. We express care as we see the concerns of others in our world. It’s a nice to know that people care. (We all are cared for. We all are valuable in the eyes of God. We matter. )

HELPFUL and KIND
I’m aware that being helpful and kind can encourage people in need. There are things I can’t be of use. But, I do show kindness in trying offer help. (It’s good to be a helping hand and show kindness in our lives. We  all need encouragement from time to time.)

SIMPLE and SWEET
I can make things complicated. But, I try to be simple and plain as I can. People tell me that I’m sweet. We all have our ways of expressing our sweetness.  (Those simple things in life don’t need to be too much. May we be sweet about the little things in life.)

THANKFUL and STRONG
Through the years, I’ve learned to be thankful. Even having a “Thank” sessions with God.  And as I’m coming along in life, I believe that I can be strong. Being built up by the LORD. (We should have a thankful heart every day. As we grow in life we can be strong through the thoughtfulness of be thankful for what God has done and will do in our lives. )

I hope that Spring is making her home where you are. She was here and left back comes and goes. Winter is tagging along. But, soon he will be leaving. The land is coming back to life as the storms and rain have been coming in due time. Enjoy Spring while its Springtime.

God bless you.

Someone Who Inspires You

 Inspiration ~ Life

Life is a journey. And every season has its work set out for us. There are many turns we take. We choice what we ought to do or not do etc. We all have someone or some things that inspires us. It’s deep within us that makes us turn toward what inspires us.

Question for Week 12: Who Inspires You?  As for me….God, His Son and His Holy Spirit. (There are people in my life who inspires me. I see the Spirit of the LORD in them.)

Everything with good intention should point us back to Jesus. When, we’re in contact with the world,  God is there. He’s in people and in nature. We have to acknowledge God and be tuned in to the Holy Spirit.

Only, if we take the time to look, to think and be aware that God is everywhere. We can be sitting by ourselves looking a creation, and witness that God’s love. His Spirit allows us to see, if we take the time and be still.

When we interact with people, God inspires us through the people we fellowship with .  Even strangers along the path way of life can bring us encouragement. God awakens our soul in many ways. Through songs, words and the simplest things in life.

The Spirit of God is the main inspirer in my life. For He is the one I seek. He’s the One that inspires us to choose life. I’ve chosen life. The Life that Jesus has for me. The inspiration that I desire, comes from the LORD.

I have an icon of the “image” of Jesus and a crucifix in my room. They remind me that the LORD is watching over me all the time. One thing about this photo, if you look at the eyes and walk around the room, the eyes move with you. This is cool.

The crucifix is the reminder that Jesus died for the world. He died for all so we can live the life that He has for us. So greater love that God has for us through His Son, Jesus.

I’m thankful for the Crucified One.
I’m thankful that the Resurrected King is resurrecting me.
May the LORD guide us in the  season that we’re in.

God bless you on your journey.

How Did You Do? And How Do You Feel?

How Do I  think I do before I begin things?

I am thankful when I put some thought into what I'm doing.
I try to do things that are helpful for others.
When I am into things, I'm hoping that things come out good.

How Did I Do It?

When I put my mind on what I'm doing, I tend to get things somewhat done.
There times I can't complete what I do.

How Do I Feel, before I started?
I'm thankful that I have an opportunity to do things that I can do.

How Did I Feel after I'm done?
I am thankful that can put some effort into what I'm doing.
I did what I could.

In all:
I'm thankful for those who are  thoughtful and can relate,
I'm thankful for those who gave feedback and bring encouragement.
I'm thankful for those who are respectful and are kind,
God bless you.

Here's what I posted on March 2, 2018
I didn't read it until after I wrote my 2023 post.

The 9th Week of Gratitude ~

How Did You Do And Feel
? ~ I'm thankful for the good that I do and the goodness in what I feel.  May the LORD help us through what we go through in our lives.

How did I do? I try not to think too long on what I do. I don't know how I did on some things. I try focus on doing good. I do what I can do. I do the best with what I have in the present moments that I have. Actually, I try not the grade myself on how I do things.

How did I feel? Feelings come and go. When I'm joyful, I can be at my best. I live in the moment. When I'm down in out, I try to do things that lift me up. I talk to God. And I love searching for my family connections.

Express Gratitude: Three Kinds Of People

I am thankful for people who are thoughtful and can relate.
When people are thoughtful, they want to reach out to others by making them feel welcomed.
They can relate and make others feel at home.

I'm thankful for people who gave feedback and can be helpful.
We can go about life not saying much to people because we appear to be so busy.
Feedback brings encouragement and an uplift to the spirits of others.

I'm thankful for people who are respectful and kind.
When we acknowledge one another we should show respect.
And being kind reflects our charter for those who we meet.

To all who are thoughtful and can relate, gave feedback and bring encouragement, those who are respectful and are kind, God bless you. We can never know a person until we reach out to others.

My Number One Friend

I am thankful that God calls me friend.
I am thankful that He has brought friends into my life.
Friends are truly blessings to have.

Who is my number one friend?

Actually, my number one friend is more than a friend,
He's my LORD and Savior, to name a few.

His name is above all names.
His name is Jesus.
He with me 24/7.
No one can ever ask for a better friend.

I'm thankful that Jesus came into my life 40+ years ago.
He knows me more than anyone could  know me.

I'm thankful that Jesus is leading me in the way I should go.
Without Him, I am nothing.

I am thankful that the LORD is  always with me throughout my life's journey.
I can talk to Him about anything that concerns me.
I'm thankful that some day I will get to met my friend Jesus face to face.

Thank You, LORD, the lover of my soul!

My Hometown

I was thinking about my hometown. Without saying the name of the city, I will share a few things about what's there. There are key places in this city.

I'm thankful that something sweet is coming out of this city.

I'm thankful that I grow up in a town that in the history books.
The place where the Pony Express begin and where Jessie James ended.

I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to attend some practice games of a NFL team. .
The place where the Kansas City Chiefs holds their Training Camp.

I'm thankful that I can view some of the places where some of my ancestors lived and walked .
I'm thankful I had the opportunity to live were my parents and their parents resided.

Something Someone Gave Me: A Compliment

I'm thankful for the gifts that God has blessed me with. I'm thankful for the gift of life that Jesus gives. I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to welcome people into the service before the Sunday gathering.

It's a good feeling to see people coming into the building each Sunday as we gather as the church to worship Jesus. And seeing the children running to check in to their classes. Thank You, Jesus!

The compliment came on  Sunday, January 22, 2023.

I'm thankful for the elderly man who came up to me and gave me a compliment.  I was not expecting to hear this.

At first, he asked me if I was a greeter? I said yes and showed him my name tag. Then he reached out his left hand to shake mine.. He thank me for being a greeter. And he said that he appreciated all that I do. That made a good feeling inside me. I thank God for that man. And I believe God sent him to me. I needed to hear this.

Being a greeter is challenging.

At times we forget to thank others for what they do. We can take the gifts that God blesses us with for granted. If you are a greeter in a church or work where you greet people ; THANK YOU for your ministry. God bless you.

John: A Family Member

I'm thankful for my brother, John. He is the fifth born of nineteen.  He is  almost 79.

I'm thankful that John shares some of his life's stories with me. I have a notebook of The Stories We Tell.  At times, when John and I start talking; he begins to share. I say wait a minute, wait a minute, I got to get my book.

I'm thankful that John has a good memories. I asked him who were his teachers. He remembered all the names of his elementary school teachers. And he shared with me some of the stories  our mother told him when he was young.

I'm thankful for my family members.

Spouse / Significant Other : Week Two

I googled the definition of significant other.
"A person having importance in, or influence on, another's life."

I can relate to this definitions because I have no spouse.

That person would be Jesus Christ, the Son of God and my LORD.

I'm so thankful that Jesus came into my life when I was a teenager. I always call upon Him every day of my life well before I began attending regular  Sunday gatherings, when I was in my 30's . I continue to gather with the church on a weekly bases.

I don't know what I would do without Him. I have my eyes fixed on Jesus. I'm thankful that God keeps me in His watchful eyes. I pray that people will get to know Jesus as who He is.

LORD, save those who don't know You and continue to save all who know You as LORD and Savior.
We can't live life without You. In Jesus' Name Amen!

Why Start This Challenge Of Gratitude? Week One

I was searching throw some of my old papers. And I came across a sheet of paper with 52 Weeks Of Gratitude Challenge. I thought to myself: maybe I can use this On My Journey site. It will keep me active in journaling.

Why Start This Challenge Of Gratitude? It's good to have something to be thankful for and we should thank God daily for all the goodness and mercy that comes into our lives.

I'm thankful that I found this 52 weeks challenge. I have done this before I can't recall the year. Perhaps it was around 2015 or earlier. It was a challenge to do back then. Now I will see how my life has changed over the years. This is my second time around with these same journaling prompts.

NOTE:
I came back to start this entry on January 14, 2023.
I didn't want to miss out on the first week.
I hope to post the week two on January 14, 2023.

Into Another Year,  In Season

I still don't know what to use this site for.
I'm using my other blogger sites

I'm not much into poetry.
But, here is one I started.

Into another year, this season
Come bow, we're suppose to be

Shining forth from darkness
Walking into the light, let's see

Praising and worshipping
The everlasting King

Evening  through morning our hearts
In Him, we'll always to sing

He's our Salvations
From season to season

Seasons Greetings

We're a week into Winter, part two
And catch up in the Christmas sphere
While on the hills of a new year.

Winter came upon us with a "Cold Spell".
But it couldn't stop the Christmas cheer
The old year is fading away

Winter isn't my favorite season.
However, it has to be a must.
Still, I'll endure it till the end.

Christmas has a beautiful view
Yet, some don't know its still upon us.
Happy 4th day in this Christmastide

The old year is about to expire.
Be ready to say, goodbye.
Crossing over into what's new.

God bless you.

Thinking About Ideas For This Site

What can I do here that I don't do on my other blogs?

I have a journal site where I journal about my doings.
I have two family connections sites where I share my findings.
I have this site On My Journey...

I want to  start  posting other things here.
This will be a challenge to do.
But, if I think about it more, I can do it.

Maybe, I can be more creative here.
I've fallen away from writing poems.
I got into my family connection searching.

I'm thinking
I'm wondering.
What can I do here?

Family Names Connected With Flowers

When I began journaling about the theme on flowers, I couldn’t think of any thing that connected flowers with my family. I see that flowers are displayed, given and sent during major occasions in life such as on Memorial Day, Funerals, Valentine’s Day, May Day, Mother’s Day, Weddings, and birthdays. But, how to connect flowers with the family tee?

I thought about it and dug a little deeper. I was searching through some of the female names on my family tree. There are a few flower names. Then I started googling. And came up with names that were inspired by flowers. I was surprised to see those name.

I compiled a list of names from my family tree that were inspired by flowers near the end of this blog. I took the photo of the flowers. The flowers were my birthday gift.

I was thinking about my Great Aunt Lillie (Blakey) Hayes. She was the daughter of Private Isaac Blakey Sr. (1845 – 1917) and Rachel (Lephriidge / Jackson) Blakey 1857 – 1916). Lillie was my Grandfather John Blakey Blakley’s half sister.

Lillie was one of 18 children. In 1906, she married Edward Hayes ( 1884 – 1958). She was 17 and he was 21. To this union there were two daughters: Edna Verles Hayes Yancey (1906 – 1929) and Dorothy Hayes.

In the beginning, I couldn’t discover much on Lillie. She was a brick wall until I began to explore the censuses and the news papers. She was listed on the 1900 Missouri census as Susie Blakey at age 12.

I discover an article about Lillie when she was living in Yankton, South Dakota. She was a women of God. She was a worshiper. “Sister Lillie Hayes whom God has so called to go out and carry his word.”

The Bystander Des Moines, Iowa28 Mar 1919, Fri  •  Page 1

Through the years, I continue to search for more information about Lillie. It was in 2018, when I came across Lillie in the newspapers from Sioux City, Iowa. It was her 1934 death notice. This was a breakthrough. I thought she passed later on in life.

Another article stated that Lillie was sick a few days. And that she passed after having an operation. She was 46 years old. She left behind her husband, Edward Hayes. And six brothers, Isaac, Henry and Spencer all from Yankton, South Dakota; Ollie, Lawhorn and Archie all from Sacramento, California and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Green and Mrs. Edna Bentley both from Yankton, South Dakota. There were no children nor grandchildren listed.

Lillie was listed on the 1920 South Dakota census as having two daughters; Edna Hayes and Dorothy Hayes. Edna passed in 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 22. Little is known about Dorothy.

April Family Remembrance BBW Family Connections

Something interesting I found out about Lillie’s Hayes Connections:
Her husband Edward’s brother, Ernest “Jap” Hayes (1886 – 1968) married Lille’s sister Martha (( Blakey) Hayes *1889 – 1918). I didn’t see that connection until I saw Edward and William (who was Ernest) listed on the same 1900 Missouri census with their parents. What a small world!

Haven't Given Up On Journaling

I haven't given up on journaling.
I have too many journaling sites to keep up with.
I'm slowing down on some of my sites.

I still journal about my ancestors and relatives.
I have come across more information with my family connections.

Attack: Dog Issue

Saturday, 19 January 2008

  • Attack: Dog Issue

I posted this blog in as private. back in January. I opened it up on October 25, 2008. I made some editing.

Since Saturday January 19th 2008 we have been under an attack about our dogs.

I don't want to post this on my blog site.
I trust that you will pray....

We are having trouble about our 3 dogs.

We were treated that they will be impounded
if the dogs are found with frozen water or no water.
She said that the dogs need fresh water all the time.
This is the 2nd time she has been here. Jan 19th was the first...

The officer has been given us trouble since then.
Still stating that one dog has not been registered.
We had all three dogs vaccinated and registered.
    We have the records.

One record---has one dog name recorded wrong.
The officer is still saying that"Sunny" is not the right dog.
The name on the record is Thunder.
Thunder, a black dog has been died about 5 or 4 years.
But the descriptions is the same: White and Tan
That is what Sunny is..."White and Tan."

We had to buy two dog houses.
And make clear of branches for one dog.
Turns the dogs houses so not facing NORTH.
The dogs would not go in there house when we turned them another way.
So two of them have two dog houses.

My brother has to appear in court for the 1st complaint someone made...
Complaint was that dogs have been mistreated
...inadequate in matter and that they are skinny food and water.
    No registered or vaccination....

We think that someone wants one of our dogs or
some one wants to break in our other house that is across the street.

We have never had this make trouble about our dogs.
We check on the dogs every day. I go up in the morning at times to feed them.
Then my other brother goes up at night time to feed them.

    We check on the house.
They dogs are healthy and are not being mistreated.

YEAH, this is a BIG Trial...We are upset...
We don't know how to keep water fresh in"the died of winter."
Water freezes...Trying to heat the water is a question.
...with electrically a cord, the dogs will chew on the cords.

    Mistreated to me means:
NOT FEEDING, BEATING UP, ABUSING , and NEGLECTING.
Also the officer said that when they take dogs they did last long at the pound.

Well is my ISSUE of the week. Thanks for hearing my burden.
    Thanks for praying
    That was than...
    Things have changed since January.
Thing office continued to come by.

We received three comments about the dogs.
I took them as a treat.
I was stressed over the matter.
We had to make sure the dogs had fresh water in the died of Winter.

My brother went to court three times.
The lawyers wanted my brother to plead guilty.

    My brother pleaded innocent.
The judge finally said that my brother did not have to come back to court.
We went through this 6 month ordeal.

The case was still opened until Oct 25th.
We could not get any more complaints about the dogs.

A lot of weird things happened in those 6 months time.
    One dog kept getting untied.

Then two of the dogs were barking at each other.
    They were fighting.

By July the days were not as bad.
The heat had me worried about the dogs.

The officer has not been by since February.

In The Year 2020

I haven't posted in years!  I've been posting on my other sites. I have to come here more often. I'm doing okay.

We're in the COVID-19 year of 2020. It's been a very long year. It's been like we've been the Twilight Zone. It's unreal. But, it's real.

I have heard of friends and cousins having it. I know of one person who has died from the virus. I've been careful. I limit to where I go. I'm not going in crowds and etcI haven't been to church since March 15, 2020.

It's Halloween. The virus is spreading. As I've been out over this month, people are wearing masks. Some are not. Nor are they keeping the physical distant that they should stand.

we are a long ways from getting where we need to be. We are in this together. We need to be on the same page. There are people who are deceived. Lord, have mercy.

Be Safe!
 Peace be with you.

God bless you.

Experience The Blessings of God

Friday, 29 February 2008

  • Experience The Blessings of God

Happy Leap Day!   Do Something Special on this Special Day of the Year! Have An Awesome Last Friday of February.
May God Bless You! Enter Into March & Enjoy!

Thank goodness, Lord for the time You give me that I can spend just with You. -- Isabel Wolseley
All your enemies deride you. They scoff and grind their teeth and say, "We have destroyed her at last? Long have we await this day, and it is finally here!"NLT Lamentation 2:16
From the Booklet: Your Highest Calling
I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can shut. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. NLT Revelation 3:8
Unlimited possibilities lie before me. What a wonderful thought to keep in mind! Regardless of the concerns or challenges I have faced in the past, a new door is opening before me now---a door to unlimited possibilities.

I can choose to stay in the past and hold unproductive thoughts, or I can choose to walk through my open door with faith and an awareness of God, my source and my supply.

What is my door opening to? Is it the experience of a new relationship, a move to a different location, a new job or hobby? Is it taking a class, finding time for prayer and reflection, experiencing a deeper relationship with God?

I am ready now to walk through the door to my good. I am ready to visualize my good and to have faith that it is coming to me in the right time and way. I am ready to express greater peace, joy strength, and love. I am ready to experience a more enlightened life, a life in which I am a partner with God.

The door to my good is opening now. I give thanks for this glorious truth, and I joyfully look forward to the blessings that are coming to me.

    Confession for the booklet:
I am ready now to experience the blessings of God and the unlimited possibilities that lie before me.
    On my journey of transformation
Jesus Arrested according to Matthew 26:47-56...
This section in the Scriptures picks up when Jesus was saying to the disciples to get up ...There was Judas, one of the disciples that arrived with a mob who were armed with swords and clubs. They were sent by the leading priests and other leaders of the people.

"Judas had given them a prearranged signal: "You will know which one to arrest when I go over and give him the kiss of greeting." Judas came straight to Jesus and greeted Him with a kiss. Jesus said "My friend go ahead and do what you have come to for." Jesus was grabbed by the others and arrested.

One of the disciples who was with Jesus pulled out a sword and slashed off an ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus told the disciple to put away the sword.
Jesus spoke to them what they did not realized. Jesus could ask His Father for thousands of angels to protect them. The Father would have sent them instantly.

But if Jesus  did that then how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describes what must happen. Then Jesus started talking to the crowd. The things that they did not do then but have done now.

For Jesus spoke of the Scriptures of the prophets. That's why they did not arrest Him in the Temple were Him was teaching daily. They came as those Jesus was a dangerous criminal in the night.

At the time Jesus spoke of His arrest according to the Scriptures, all the disciples deserted Him and fled.
Some of my thoughts: Share later in my reflections

The Holy Week Scriptures Meditations continues Jesus Arrested according to Mark 14:43-52

    From my book of Remembrance:
Father God, I am thankful that there is a Door of HOPE that brings open doors of opportunities. I am blessed for the doors that have been shut. I am thankful for the FAITH to walk away from things that bare no fruit.

I am thankful for this Leap Day. I am so blessed to be a part of what is going on. I am thankful for the unlimited blessing that You have for Your children.
