Family Names Connected With Flowers

When I began journaling about the theme on flowers, I couldn’t think of any thing that connected flowers with my family. I see that flowers are displayed, given and sent during major occasions in life such as on Memorial Day, Funerals, Valentine’s Day, May Day, Mother’s Day, Weddings, and birthdays. But, how to connect flowers with the family tee?

I thought about it and dug a little deeper. I was searching through some of the female names on my family tree. There are a few flower names. Then I started googling. And came up with names that were inspired by flowers. I was surprised to see those name.

I compiled a list of names from my family tree that were inspired by flowers near the end of this blog. I took the photo of the flowers. The flowers were my birthday gift.

I was thinking about my Great Aunt Lillie (Blakey) Hayes. She was the daughter of Private Isaac Blakey Sr. (1845 – 1917) and Rachel (Lephriidge / Jackson) Blakey 1857 – 1916). Lillie was my Grandfather John Blakey Blakley’s half sister.

Lillie was one of 18 children. In 1906, she married Edward Hayes ( 1884 – 1958). She was 17 and he was 21. To this union there were two daughters: Edna Verles Hayes Yancey (1906 – 1929) and Dorothy Hayes.

In the beginning, I couldn’t discover much on Lillie. She was a brick wall until I began to explore the censuses and the news papers. She was listed on the 1900 Missouri census as Susie Blakey at age 12.

I discover an article about Lillie when she was living in Yankton, South Dakota. She was a women of God. She was a worshiper. “Sister Lillie Hayes whom God has so called to go out and carry his word.”

The Bystander Des Moines, Iowa28 Mar 1919, Fri  •  Page 1

Through the years, I continue to search for more information about Lillie. It was in 2018, when I came across Lillie in the newspapers from Sioux City, Iowa. It was her 1934 death notice. This was a breakthrough. I thought she passed later on in life.

Another article stated that Lillie was sick a few days. And that she passed after having an operation. She was 46 years old. She left behind her husband, Edward Hayes. And six brothers, Isaac, Henry and Spencer all from Yankton, South Dakota; Ollie, Lawhorn and Archie all from Sacramento, California and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Green and Mrs. Edna Bentley both from Yankton, South Dakota. There were no children nor grandchildren listed.

Lillie was listed on the 1920 South Dakota census as having two daughters; Edna Hayes and Dorothy Hayes. Edna passed in 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 22. Little is known about Dorothy.

Something interesting I found out about Lillie’s Hayes Connections:
Her husband Edward’s brother, Ernest “Jap” Hayes (1886 – 1968) married Lille’s sister Martha (( Blakey) Hayes *1889 – 1918). I didn’t see that connection until I saw Edward and William (who was Ernest) listed on the same 1900 Missouri census with their parents. What a small world!

Week 11 ~ Amy Johnson Crow ~ Generations CafĂ© via facebook #52Ancestors 52 Weeks
Spring isn’t far off for those of us in the northern hemisphere, and with that comes thoughts of flowers — which, not coincidentally, is this week’s theme! Any Roses, Daisys, or Petunias in the family? What about a family member who had a real green thumb? Be creative with this theme!

Haven't Given Up On Journaling

I haven't given up on journaling.
I have too many journaling sites to keep up with.
I'm slowing down on some of my sites.

I still journal about my ancestors and relatives.
I have come across more information with my family connections.
I'm so excited to see some progress in my searching.

Attack: Dog Issue

Saturday, 19 January 2008

  • Attack: Dog Issue

I posted this blog in as private. back in January. I opened it up on October 25, 2008. I made some editing.

Since Saturday January 19th 2008 we have been under an attack about our dogs.

I don't want to post this on my blog site.
I trust that you will pray....

We are having trouble about our 3 dogs.

We were treated that they will be impounded
if the dogs are found with frozen water or no water.
She said that the dogs need fresh water all the time.
This is the 2nd time she has been here. Jan 19th was the first...

The officer has been given us trouble since then.
Still stating that one dog has not been registered.
We had all three dogs vaccinated and registered.
    We have the records.

One record---has one dog name recorded wrong.
The officer is still saying that"Sunny" is not the right dog.
The name on the record is Thunder.
Thunder, a black dog has been died about 5 or 4 years.
But the descriptions is the same: White and Tan
That is what Sunny is..."White and Tan."

We had to buy two dog houses.
And make clear of branches for one dog.
Turns the dogs houses so not facing NORTH.
The dogs would not go in there house when we turned them another way.
So two of them have two dog houses.

My brother has to appear in court for the 1st complaint someone made...
Complaint was that dogs have been mistreated
...inadequate in matter and that they are skinny food and water.
    No registered or vaccination....

We think that someone wants one of our dogs or
some one wants to break in our other house that is across the street.

We have never had this make trouble about our dogs.
We check on the dogs every day. I go up in the morning at times to feed them.
Then my other brother goes up at night time to feed them.

    We check on the house.
They dogs are healthy and are not being mistreated.

YEAH, this is a BIG Trial...We are upset...
We don't know how to keep water fresh in"the died of winter."
Water freezes...Trying to heat the water is a question.
...with electrically a cord, the dogs will chew on the cords.

    Mistreated to me means:
NOT FEEDING, BEATING UP, ABUSING , and NEGLECTING.
Also the officer said that when they take dogs they did last long at the pound.

Well is my ISSUE of the week. Thanks for hearing my burden.
    Thanks for praying
    That was than...
    Things have changed since January.
Thing office continued to come by.

We received three comments about the dogs.
I took them as a treat.
I was stressed over the matter.
We had to make sure the dogs had fresh water in the died of Winter.

My brother went to court three times.
The lawyers wanted my brother to plead guilty.

    My brother pleaded innocent.
The judge finally said that my brother did not have to come back to court.
We went through this 6 month ordeal.

The case was still opened until Oct 25th.
We could not get any more complaints about the dogs.

A lot of weird things happened in those 6 months time.
    One dog kept getting untied.

Then two of the dogs were barking at each other.
    They were fighting.

By July the days were not as bad.
The heat had me worried about the dogs.

The officer has not been by since February.

In The Year 2020

I haven't posted in years!  I've been posting on my other sites. I have to come here more often. I'm doing okay.

We're in the COVID-19 year of 2020. It's been a very long year. It's been like we've been the Twilight Zone. It's unreal. But, it's real.

I have heard of friends and cousins having it. I know of one person who has died from the virus. I've been careful. I limit to where I go. I'm not going in crowds and etcI haven't been to church since March 15, 2020.

It's Halloween. The virus is spreading. As I've been out over this month, people are wearing masks. Some are not. Nor are they keeping the physical distant that they should stand.

we are a long ways from getting where we need to be. We are in this together. We need to be on the same page. There are people who are deceived. Lord, have mercy.

Be Safe!
 Peace be with you.

God bless you.

Experience The Blessings of God

Friday, 29 February 2008

  • Experience The Blessings of God

Happy Leap Day!   Do Something Special on this Special Day of the Year! Have An Awesome Last Friday of February.
May God Bless You! Enter Into March & Enjoy!

Thank goodness, Lord for the time You give me that I can spend just with You. -- Isabel Wolseley
All your enemies deride you. They scoff and grind their teeth and say, "We have destroyed her at last? Long have we await this day, and it is finally here!"NLT Lamentation 2:16
From the Booklet: Your Highest Calling
I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can shut. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. NLT Revelation 3:8
Unlimited possibilities lie before me. What a wonderful thought to keep in mind! Regardless of the concerns or challenges I have faced in the past, a new door is opening before me now---a door to unlimited possibilities.

I can choose to stay in the past and hold unproductive thoughts, or I can choose to walk through my open door with faith and an awareness of God, my source and my supply.

What is my door opening to? Is it the experience of a new relationship, a move to a different location, a new job or hobby? Is it taking a class, finding time for prayer and reflection, experiencing a deeper relationship with God?

I am ready now to walk through the door to my good. I am ready to visualize my good and to have faith that it is coming to me in the right time and way. I am ready to express greater peace, joy strength, and love. I am ready to experience a more enlightened life, a life in which I am a partner with God.

The door to my good is opening now. I give thanks for this glorious truth, and I joyfully look forward to the blessings that are coming to me.

    Confession for the booklet:
I am ready now to experience the blessings of God and the unlimited possibilities that lie before me.
    On my journey of transformation
Jesus Arrested according to Matthew 26:47-56...
This section in the Scriptures picks up when Jesus was saying to the disciples to get up ...There was Judas, one of the disciples that arrived with a mob who were armed with swords and clubs. They were sent by the leading priests and other leaders of the people.

"Judas had given them a prearranged signal: "You will know which one to arrest when I go over and give him the kiss of greeting." Judas came straight to Jesus and greeted Him with a kiss. Jesus said "My friend go ahead and do what you have come to for." Jesus was grabbed by the others and arrested.

One of the disciples who was with Jesus pulled out a sword and slashed off an ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus told the disciple to put away the sword.
Jesus spoke to them what they did not realized. Jesus could ask His Father for thousands of angels to protect them. The Father would have sent them instantly.

But if Jesus  did that then how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describes what must happen. Then Jesus started talking to the crowd. The things that they did not do then but have done now.

For Jesus spoke of the Scriptures of the prophets. That's why they did not arrest Him in the Temple were Him was teaching daily. They came as those Jesus was a dangerous criminal in the night.

At the time Jesus spoke of His arrest according to the Scriptures, all the disciples deserted Him and fled.
Some of my thoughts: Share later in my reflections

The Holy Week Scriptures Meditations continues Jesus Arrested according to Mark 14:43-52

    From my book of Remembrance:
Father God, I am thankful that there is a Door of HOPE that brings open doors of opportunities. I am blessed for the doors that have been shut. I am thankful for the FAITH to walk away from things that bare no fruit.

I am thankful for this Leap Day. I am so blessed to be a part of what is going on. I am thankful for the unlimited blessing that You have for Your children.

I am blessed that Your LOVE is there in what I do. I am thankful for our relationship. I am blessed to have STRENGTH. I am so thankful for Experience The Blessings of God in Jesus' name Amen.

A fool give full vent to anger, but a wise person quietly holds it back. NLT Proverbs 29:11

With God's help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. NLT Psalm 60:12
