On The Journey With Jesus: Celebrating
What a beautiful start for the week! The last Sunday of February was wonderful! This is the day that the LORD has made, I've been rejoicing and being glad in it.
Church Life: The Sunday Gathering: The 2nd Sunday of Lent
Another Special Day: I'm a month away for my 35th Anniversary on the journey with Jesus. I've been celebrating as the days come to be. I'm learning a lot from life.
One thing I've notice on my journey, God has placed people in my life for a reason and for a season. And I've met so many beautiful people. Thank You, Jesus for being seen in the people in whom You speak through to me. Only You can do that. Glory be to God.
I had a wonderful time chatting with some of my friends during our church gathering this morning. Especially the ones who are preparing for their journey to Israel. I even received some prayer request. I'm praying.
It's a wonderful feeling to chat with friends. I'm thankful that they speak to me and not hurry on their way. Our conversations aren't' that long. I'm thankful for the conversations that encourage me. I hope that I do impart blessings to those come in my pathway.
The message " When The Whip Comes Down" by Pastor Brian Zahnd scripture Mark 11:12-19
It was an interesting message. I heard some things that I haven't realized.
The fig leaves....Adam and Eve and Jesus and the figure tree.
The whip and the cattle being driven out by Jesus.
Prayer for the Week of Sunday, February 25,
On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.
And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’?
But you have made it a den of robbers.” And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. And when evening came they went out of the city.
Thanks for reading and praying.
God bless you.

Heirloom #52ancestors 52 Weeks
What's been handed down from generations to generation? One thing, was our family surname. And the other, the faith in Jesus Christ that our ancestors told us about.
Though my family surname was changed at least two times it's our "heirloom" or what's our inheritage. My Great Grandpa Isaac's family was carried the WHITE surname. Sometime along the journey Isaac choose the BLAKEY surname. And he was the only one of his siblings with that surname.
Isaac had twin sons by his first wife, Martha (Scott) Blakey. Their name were Andrew and John. Andrew passed as an infant. John later changed his surname to BLAKLEY around 1902. His children carry the BLAKLEY surname.
When I first thought about this blog, I was thinking of what special item that has been passed down in my family. I can't think of any objects from one generation to the next. There may have been. Perhaps, the family stories, pictures that we need to share more of.

The Start Of the First Full Week Of Lent
It was a beautiful start for the 1st Sunday in the Lent season. I woke up feeling great. Oh, what a day this has been.
It was a special day, Feb 18th. It was the 22nd Anniversary when I viewed the church building at Word of Life Church. The year was 1996. I was longing to see the main sanctuary. When I went in back in 1996, I looked up and round. The room had a glow about it.
Today, I as I entered the sanctuary, I bowed my head and thanked God. Then I became to pray the Lord's prayer with my head slightly bowed as I made my way to my seat. I entered into the gates with thanksgiving and prayer.
I had a wonderful time chatting with some friends before and after the church gathering this morning. And when I got home, I had family members who stopped by. We had a great time together!
The Sermon Series :The Last Week: Part One of Eight to Easter Sunday.
This message "There's Always Some Dude On A Horse." by Pastor Brian Zahnd
This sounds like it will be an interesting series.
I'm on the Lenten journey.
I hope you are too.
Prayer for the Week of Sunday, February 18
Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan; Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Scripture for the Week Sunday, February 18
Mark 11:1-11
Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’”
And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. And some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go. And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it.
And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!”
And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

Reflections: On Season Of Changes
Friday, 29 February 2008
Note: Reflections: On Season Of Changes
When your calling to move on with God is at hand,
What should you do?
Believe That You Heard From GOD,
Leave What's Behind And Move On With What GOD Has For You To Do.
I have seen some people come and some people go. There were some that have moved on into glory in Heaven while others left because of other reasons. When all have to adapt to the changes in life.
In my "Early Christian Years in Church", it was hard for me to get a hold of the thought that people were leaving church. I could not understand why. Some walk away from God. There are some I have not a clue where they are. Then there were some I found out by asking.
I said God don't let me be that way. My prayer to God is I don't walk to walk away from You and I want to keep being a part of the Church. Help me.
With in the last two months, I have seen three people who were on the staff at Word of Life, move on into their season with God. My mind was thinking, What is going on? I see this as a "Season of Changes" and I must move on with these changes.
I think that We Are Called For A Season in which God has called us into. When that time comes, we have to make those adjustments and move on. It is hard to say good bye to people who have been around for a while. We have to let them go. Perhaps we will never hearing from them again until we get to heaven.
We are all gifts from God. We should not take one another for granted. We have our talents and our abilities to share with one another. We should help one another in times of need as the Body of Christ as we are able.
In the past 7 years, I have grown less surprised when I hear people leaving the Church. I see this as the moving on with what God wants for them or what they want for themselves as they prayed about their decision. Once I hear the news, I need to wish them well and move on.
I see their "time stayed" as a blessing. I thank God that we cross path in life. I thank God that we had the opportunity to share life together for a season. I don't want to regret when I hear that some one has passed on and I never got to know them.
We all don't know when our time will come. We have to have a season of changes in our lives. Maybe we have to move to another city, perhaps change Churches in the city that we are in or whatever the Lord is leading us to do. May we see change as a next level in life and not something that we have lost in the process.
Some Of Those Gone On To Be With The LORD.
I heard the news this week that one of my friends, Frankie H. has gone on to be with our Lord in heaven. Frankie was almost 98. She was a good friend. I love talking with her. She had such wisdom.
I remember when I was very sick with lupus. I needed a kidney biopsy. Frankie encouraged me. She saw me in church one day. She walked up to me and was wondering where I was.
I filled her in on my health issue. As Frankie was fixing my collar, she was encouraging me not to worry and that everything was going to be alright. I believe that God used Frankie to reassure me that He was with me.
I was thinking about other friends. Friends that I believe that God put in my pathway who brought me encouragement. It was how they approach me and the manner in which they spoke to me.
What my friends shared with me made the difference. What they spoke to me was believable. Those words were the right words at the right season in my life.
I Have A List Of People Who I Wish
or Want To Talk To.
Some of this people have already gone on to be in glory with the LORD. Then there are those who I will not have the opportunity to talk to. So I will have to wait and talk to them in Heaven. For one, I pray that the have believed upon Jesus before their time expires on this earth.
I believe that we should take value in the time that we have. Whether it is with our own time that we spend or time that we spend with others. I don't know when my time will come--- when I am called away. Whether to cease doing something and start to do something else, move into another season in life or called to be with Jesus.
I don't know what is on the road ahead for me. I am trying to make the best of what I have. I try to communicate with people the best way I can. There are those who are called to meet me on this road of life. May we meet. May we be a blessing to one another.
I thank God for this road up ahead of me. I believe that I can hear from GOD. I believe that I can move on forward leaving what's behind and move on in to what God has for me to do.
When Things Have To Changes,
May We Go Through With Those Changes.
May we see what can become of changes. May we not to take others for granted while they are in our present. May we see others as a gift that God has blessed us with. May we show respect and have appreciation toward one another.
From my Book of Remembrance:
Thanks and Blessings:
Father God, I thank You that You blessed me to be a blessing. I thank You that I have that FAITH that is of You. I thank You for the people who have been in my life. I thank You for the people who will enter into my future.
I thank You that there is a Door of HOPE the brings SIGNS and WONDERS for those who are searching for You with their whole hearts. I thank You for Your LOVE that can see been in others.
I thank You for the STRENGTH that is there each day of my life. I thank You for the changes that come into my life. I thank You that You are giving me wisdom to change as changes come in Jesus' name Amen.

As We Gathered As The Church
It's been a start of a brand new week! It was a beautiful day on Sunday. I had the honor to greet some of the people as we gathered as the church. I saw a lot of people.
I don't know why it snows over the weekend. We don't get much snow. It wasn't as bad as they said it would be. Thank You, Jesus.
It's been a good start for the week. I had the honor to greet some of the people at Word of Life Church. It was a blessing to see all the little ones coming with their parents, grandparents etc. Those kids are ready for hear about Jesus. I see some running to get checked in.

Prayer for the Week of Sunday, February 11
O God, who before the passion of your only-begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Scripture for the Week of Sunday, February 11
Mark 9:2-9
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.
And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

Common Names On The Family Tree ~ Favorite Names ~ The 6th Week of #52Ancestors 52 Weeks
Over the coarse of my family history journey, I've seen a lot of common names and same name relatives. Some of my relatives went by their middle names. I can see why. There had to be nicknames. It would be a lot of confusion if there weren't.
Here are some of the common names that I came across. First and middle names...Mary, Jane, David, William, Isaac, Margaret, Michael, Robert, Louis, Paul, Andrew, Anna, Alice, Laura, Julia, Spencer, John, Richard, Leo, James, Sarah, Frederick or Fred.
There are some unique names for today. There are some I can't spell. Parents are creative in choosing names for their children.
Here were some unique names back in the old days. There were Charity, Lawhorn, Beecher, Nymadula "Nym", Oressica, Mone, Aile, Orbrey, Elias, Quitman, Ledrew, Lelia, Rubenia, Pleas, Inez, Cass, Meta, Nejla, and Zenolia to name a few.
Also I've noted that there were large families.
Some of the children were named after their parents or other relatives.
The large families included
Isaac BLAKEY with 20 or so children.
Frances (OVINGTION) DADE with 14 children
Julia WHITE with 12 or 13 children
Richard WHITE with 12 children
Another Isaac BLAKEY with 11 children
Charlotta (DADE) LANKFORD / LANKFARD with 11 children
Louis Newton DADE with 8 children,
my parents with 19.
I've come across first names that were male but, were females. Cecil BLAKLEY and Thomas PEYTON. Thomas Sarah (PEYTON) ANDERSON passed in 2013.
I thought that the common names were interesting. I have a lot of people on my family tree. I don't know how I can remember all the names. Especially, the ones I don't know much about. It's hard to keep track.
I continue to search and find more unique things on the family tree. I believe that there are more unique names. I hope to discover them along the journey.
Thank God that our parents gave us our names.
I'm thankful for my name, Susan.
I have a 2nd Great Grandmother named Susan (LEACH) WASHINGTON.
Thanks for reading.
God bless you.

Living In The Moments: Enjoying Life
It was a beautiful Sunday!
Every Super Bowl Sunday, I ask some of my friends, one on one, face to face Word of Life Church, who's going to win the Super Bowl? I have fun doing it. ~ Anybody who knows me, knows who I'm rooting for.
Two people asked me, who I thought will win the game? And I said "the team who scores the most points." True story. And only one person told me who "they" really roots for. That person and I root for the same team.
I went to a Super Bowl party. We had fun....stayed till about the end of 2nd quarter. Went home and continued to watch the game. I didn't get into the commercials. I heard that 30 seconds cost 5.5 million dollars.
I stayed up late watching the Super Bowl. I had a great time. The whole day was wonderful. It's rare that I stay up late. Football season is over for now. Baseball season is coming.

Message Forgiveness That Transcends Tragedy by Pastor Brian Zahnd
Here's a testimony Stories of Forgiveness: Todd Norris's Story
Prayer for the Week of Sunday, February 4, 2018
Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Scripture for the Week of Sunday, February 4, 2018
Mark 1:29-39
And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.
Thanks for reading and praying.
God bless you.

In The Census: Great Finds ~ The 5th Week of #52Ancestors 52 Weeks
Week 5 ~ Prompt In The Census ~
1880 Census Chariton County Missouri |
In June of 2007, I stumbled across this 1880 census, while I was searching for my Great Grandfather, Isaac Blakey. I typed in Isaac White and this page came up. I was amazed by what I saw. I shouted, "Thank You, Jesus!".
I thought that my 2nd Great Grandmother, Julia White would have passed. Low and behold, there she was listed on the 1880. She was a former slaved and lived at least 15 years after the Civil War ended.
What's so surprising, the children and grandchildren were listed with her. There were some children not listed. Julia the granddaughter had a twin brother. There was an Isaac Jr. Don't know who the Andrew listed as age 6. Wondering who were their parents?
There were other grandchildren of Julia without listing of their parents. Andrew was listed as black. Rebecca was mulatto and her parents were from Virginia.
Also, what's interesting, is the family unit before Julia's. Isaac White ( aged 80) and his family. I believe that Isaac and Julia were in laws. Julia had a son named Andrew. Wondering if this Isaac was Andrew's Grandfather.
There's so much to dig into in the censuses. Following the paper trail of our ancestors. It's a journey in itself. I'm thankful that I came across this census.
